Greenville, S.C. – The Furman softball team returns to Southern Conference play this weekend when it visits Macon, Ga., to take on the Mercer Bears in a three-game series on Saturday and Sunday at Sikes Field.
The series begins with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday at Sikes Field and concludes with a 1 p.m. first pitch on Sunday. All three games will be streamed live on ESPN+. Links for the live streams and live statistics are available on the softball schedule page at FurmanPaladins.com.
Furman enters the weekend at 7-31 overall and 1-8 in conference play, but the Paladins have won two of their last three games. Last Sunday, Furman salvaged the final game of its three-game series at first-place UNC Greensboro. Freshman
Kristyn Embler, who captured SoCon Pitcher of the Week honors, tossed a complete-game shutout to power the Paladins to a 3-0 win.
On Tuesday, Presbyterian downed the Paladins, 5-1, in the opening game of a midweek doubleheader before Furman rallied from a 6-3 deficit in game two to claim a 7-6 win on

This weekend's series opener will mark the 55
th all-time meeting on the diamond between the Paladins and Bears with Mercer holding a 33-21 series edge. The Bears dominated last season's regular season series in Greenville, S.C., by posting three consecutive shutouts. Mercer finished the season sweep by rallying for an 11-7 victory in the opening game of the SoCon Softball Championship on its way to earning the league title and NCAA Regional bid.
The Bears are 16-21 overall and 4-5 in league play coming into this weekend's series. Mercer dropped two-of-three games versus Chattanooga last weekend before falling 4-1 in midweek action at Georgia Southern on Wednesday.
