Riley O'Bryan netted a hat trick and senior
Bri Pinasco added a pair of goals to power Furman to a 9-0 victory over Bob Jones in non-conference women's soccer action Friday evening on Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium.
Sophomore
Jessica Mattson opened the scoring 9:32 into the match with a driving shot from outside the box into the left-hand corner to give Furman a 1-0 lead. Pinasco, who assisted on Mattson's strike, followed with back-to-back goals in the 21
st and 25
th minute on assists from O'Bryan and
Jaleah Simmons, respectively, to stake the Paladins to a comfortable 3-0 advantage.
Senior
Maddie Massie netted her first goal of the season from the top of the box at 38:47 to extend the Furman cushion to 4-0 entering the halftime break and O'Bryan nodded home a pair of headers in the first 2:30 of the second half to increase the margin to 6-0.
Hayden Barnett added her second goal of the year at 53:49 before assisting O'Bryan's third goal in the 61
st minute. Freshman
Sierra Davis capped the scoring with a header off
Alyssa England's assist at 63:52 for the final 9-0 scoreline.
"It was definitely a positive night for the Paladins," said head coach
Andrew Burr. "We were able to play everyone who dressed out tonight, we got the shutout, and five different players scored goals. It's a short turnaround before we play Asheville on Sunday, so we'll look to take confidence from this game and prepare for the next challenge."
Furman (2-2-0) compiled a 31-0 margin in total shot attempts in Friday's victory, including a 16-0 advantage in shots on goal.
Kylie Brookfield and
Emmy Rikard combined on the shutout without having to make a save while Margaret Provenzano stopped five shots to lead three Bruin goalkeepers who saw action.
Sunday's match will be the 13
th between the Paladins and Bulldogs. Furman claimed a 3-0 decision in Asheville, N.C., in the last meeting on September 11, 2025, to improve to 9-3-0 in the series. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. and the match will be streamed live on ESPN+.
