GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman senior setter
Emily Navarro has been selected the Southern Conference Volleyball Setter of the Week for matches played September 7-13, it was announced this afternoon by the league office.
A native of Davie, Fla., Navarro led Furman in assists after going 2-1 last weekend at the Fairfield Inn and Suites Dunn Campbell Invitational in Buies Creek, N.C. She was named to the All-Tournament Team after dishing out 68 assists, averaging 6.18 assists per set, ranked second on the team with 25 digs, and tied for second with three service aces.
Navarro collected her team leading sixth double-double of the season last Saturday in a 3-1 victory over tournament host Campbell, finishing with 23 assists and 11 digs while adding two service aces. Earlier in the day, she compiled 19 assists, seven digs, and one service ace versus Ball State. Navarro began the tournament with 26 assists and seven digs in the Paladins' 3-0 sweep of Stetson.
This season, she ranks sixth in the SoCon for assists and ninth in digs. The weekly honor marks the second of Navarro's career.
Furman heads to Clemson, S.C., September 17-18, for a pair of matches with Clemson and New Hampshire in the Tiger Classic at Jervey Gym.
