Greenville, S.C. – Furman goalkeeper Reese DeJong has been named Southern Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon by the league office.
 
DeJong, a native of Huntersville, N.C., posted a pair of shutouts this past week as Furman claimed a 1-0 victory over Presbyterian and 3-0 win at Charleston Southern. On Thursday night, the junior stopped five shots, including a leaping effort to tip a shot over the bar and a sprawling save on a once-versus-one breakaway, to secure the win against the Blue Hose. She stopped four more shots on Sunday afternoon at CSU to lead Furman to its fourth straight shutout and fifth in the last six matches.
 
In six matches this season, DeJong has posted a 4-2-0 record and totaled three shutouts. She is 23-11-7 in 44 career appearances in goal for the Paladins.
 
Furman (5-2-0) is back in action Thursday when it hosts USC Upstate at 7 p.m. on Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium.
