Broome Finishes Second, Paladins Sixth At ODU/OBX Collegiate

Powells Point, N.C. – Matt Broome (66-68-71=205) carded a final round 71 to secure second place while Furman (285-292-295=872) finished in a tie for sixth place on Tuesday at the Old Dominion/OBX Collegiate at the par-72 Kilmarlic Golf Club.

Broome birdied four holes, including closing his round with a four on the par-five No. 9, to finish nine strokes behind individual medalist Harold Varner (65-66-65=196) of East Carolina.  Sophomore Johnny Kyger (76-73-72=221) recorded five final round birdies and shot one-under on the front nine to claim an even-par 72 while Anthony Aloi and J.B. Murphy, who notched his third eagle of the tournament, each shot four-over 76.

East Carolina (270-282-275=827) shot 13-under par over 54 holes to claim a 23-stroke victory over second place Richmond.  Liberty, Louisville and Radford rounded out the top five ahead of a sixth place tie between the Paladins and Elon.

Furman returns to action at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate in Cashiers, N.C., November 1-2.
