Box Score Furman Men's Basketball Vs Davidson - Postgame Interviews And Highlights
Greenville, S.C. – Senior Chris Czerapowicz poured in a team-high 21 points, including seven during a late 19-5 Davidson run, to lift the Wildcats to a 73-56 victory over Furman in Southern Conference men's basketball action on Thursday night at Timmons Arena.
After a 5-0 Furman run trimmed Davidson's lead to 54-48 with 7:57 remaining in the second half, Czerapowicz netted seven points and Tyler Kalinoski drained a pair of treys during a 19-5 spurt over the next 6:30 en route to the Wildcats' 17-point win over the Paladins.
Czerapowicz connected on 6-of-9 shots, including 5-of-8 beyond the arc, in 34 minutes of action while fellow senior De'Mon Brooks added 18 points and nine rebounds. The Wildcats shot 50% from the floor as a team and forced Furman into 21 turnovers, which led to 16 Davidson points.
Davidson (6-10, 2-0 SoCon) jumped out to a 14-4 first half lead, capped by Czerapowicz's triple with 14:36 left in the period. Furman answered with a 14-6 run of its own and pulled within two points at 20-18 after Kris Acox scored back-to-back baskets in the paint with just over 10 minutes left in the half.
Czerapowicz, however, responded to the Furman run by hitting three three-point jumpers over the final 10 minutes of the first half as Davidson fashioned a 21-10 run to carry a 41-28 lead into the break when the 6-foot-7 guard buried a trey from the left corner to beat the halftime buzzer.
After Davidson built its lead to as many as 16 points in the second half, Furman converted on 5-of-6 free throws from the 12 minute mark to the 7:57 mark to slice the lead to six points before the Wildcats' 19-5 outburst put the game out of reach.
Stephen Croone paced the Paladins with 21 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the foul line. Sophomore Kendrec Ferrara scored eight points while freshman Adonis Rwabigwi contributed a career-high seven points.
The Paladins (6-10, 0-3 SoCon) shot 43.9% and made 17-of-26 free throw attempts, but Furman connected on just 3-of-12 three-point attempts. Senior Charlie Reddick pulled down a team-best seven rebounds to help the Paladins to a 31-25 edge on the glass.
