Paladins Travel To Face UNCG On Tuesday Night

Greenville, S.C. -- Furman Basketball goes in search of its second straight victory to open the Southern Conference schedule when it travels to Greensboro, N.C., to face the UNCG Spartans on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Greensboro Coliseum.

The Paladins' first road contest of the SoCon season will be streamed live on the SoCon Digital Network and can be heard on the Furman IMG Radio Network at WGOG 101.7FM and FoxSports 1440AM, as well as, on your mobile device through the TuneIn Radio app.

Tuesday's game marks the 27th all-time meeting between Furman and UNCG with the series knotted at 13-13. Furman claimed a 71-64 win in Greenville, S.C., last January before UNCG earned a season split with an 83-49 win in Greensboro on February 22, 2015, in the last meeting. Five Spartans scored in double figures in the last meeting as UNCG connected on 15 three-pointers and shot 51%.

Furman snapped a three-game skid with a decisive 85-57 victory over VMI in the SoCon opener for both schools on Saturday afternoon at Timmons Arena. Senior Stephen Croone paced the Paladins with a season-high 22 points, while junior Kris Acox added 15 points, six rebounds and four steals.  The Paladins recorded 11 steals and forced 19 turnovers. They outscored the Keydets 36-26 in the paint and totaled 28 points off turnovers.

The 28-point win over the Keydets marked the largest margin of victory for the Paladins in a SoCon game since a 77-45 win over The Citadel on January 5, 2012.

Croone leads Furman averaging 14.5 points per game, while freshman forward Matt Rafferty has contributed 9.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game through 14 outings.

UNCG comes into Tuesday's game at 4-10 overall and 0-1 in the SoCon following an 87-76 loss at Wofford on Saturday night. RJ White, Kayel Locke and Francis Alonso lead the Spartans with each averaging better than 11 points per game.
