Weekends at the Well Info
Greenville, S.C. – Furman Basketball's Weekends at the Well series presented by Ingles and Healthy Blue returns this Saturday with a men's and women's doubleheader at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in downtown Greenville, S.C.

The Furman women's team will host Samford in Southern Conference action at 4:30 p.m. before the men's team entertains UNCG at 7 p.m. Both games will be streamed live on ESPN3.

Tickets for Saturday's doubleheader are on sale now at the Timmons Arena Box Office and online at
FurmanPaladins.com. Current Furman students can pick up their tickets at the Timmons Arena Box Office on Friday, January 10, from 3:00-6 p.m. or on Saturday, January 11, at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena Box Office Main Entrance starting at 3:30 p.m. One ticket is good for both games and fans are reminded that a "clear bag policy" will be in effect for Saturday's games.Â

Students are also reminded that Furman's dorms will be open at 9 a.m. on Saturday and a free bus shuttle for Furman students will run from Timmons Arena to the Well's Box Office Dropoff Circle beginning at 3:15 p.m. and ending at 11:30 p.m.

The first 1,000 fans at Saturday's doubleheader will receive a Furman Rally Towel and one lucky fan will have a chance to compete for $10,000 during the men's game. There will be a postgame autograph session following both the men's and women's games.

Bob Richey's Paladins enter Saturday's contest riding a seven-game winning streak after a 73-66 triumph at Chattanooga on Wednesday night. The first place Paladins, 14-3 overall and 4-0 in SoCon play, are looking to open league play at 5-0 for the first time since the 1979-80 squad won its first nine SoCon games.

Saturday's game will mark the 37
th all-time meeting between Furman and UNCG with the Spartans holding a 19-17 series lead. UNCG captured last season's meeting in Greensboro, N.C., before Furman earned a victory in the rematch in Greenville. The Spartans, who have won five of the last six series meetings, downed Furman 66-62 in the SoCon semifinals in Asheville in the most recent encounter on March 10, 2019.

Furman is currently ranked No. 3 in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25, while the Spartans (12-5 overall, 2-2 SoCon) are ranked No. 9. The Paladins climbed to No. 57 in the Pomeroy Ratings (KenPom.com) on Friday. UNCG is currently rated No. 87.

In December, Furman made its return to Bon Secours Wellness Arena with an 80-73 victory over Big South Conference leader Winthrop. The Paladins called downtown Greenville home from the program's inception in 1908 until the closing of the Greenville Memorial Auditorium at the 1995-96 season. The December tilt versus Winthrop was Furman's first contest in downtown Greenville since 2007.
