Furman To Entertain Chattanooga And Limestone Friday

Julia Adams & Katarina Kozarov

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's tennis team will entertain Chattanooga and Limestone on Friday at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C.  First serve versus the Mocs is set for 3 p.m. with the match versus the Saints to follow at 7 p.m.

Furman enters the weekend with a 10-3 record after defeating Liberty, 4-3, and VCU, 6-1, in Lynchburg last weekend.  Senior Katarina Kozarov, the two-time reigning Southern Conference Player of the Year, ranks 14th nationally in singles.  In doubles, Kozarov and sophomore Julia Adams rank 27th nationally, while Adams and sophomore Madison Dillon are 38th in the latest rankings.

Friday's match versus Chattanooga marks the SoCon opener for both teams, which are meeting for the 49th time.    The Paladins defeated the Mocs, 7-0, during the regular season in 2019 and beat the Mocs, 4-0, in the first round of the SoCon Championships to take a 39-9 series lead.  Chattanooga comes to Greenville with a 6-4 record after defeating UT Martin, 6-1, on Sunday.

The Paladins will square off against Limestone Friday evening for only the second time in program history.  Furman won, 7-0, when the teams last met in 2018.  The Saints are 0-3 after falling to Wingate, 7-0, on Wednesday.
