Greenville, S.C. – The Furman men's basketball team will look for its third consecutive victory to open the 2021-22 season on Monday traveling to Nashville, Tenn. for a 7:30 p.m. ET tipoff against the Belmont Bruins inside Curb Event Center.

The Paladins (2-0) recorded their first win over an ACC opponent since the 2000-01 season on Friday after defeating Louisville 80-72 in overtime. Furman defeated Florida State in overtime, 79-74, on December 4, 2000 in Tallahassee, Fla. The Paladins also snapped the Cardinals' 59-game winning streak in November home games, including a 46-0 mark in the KFC Yum! Center. The win was Furman's first in program history over Louisville.
Mike Bothwell led the Paladins with a game high 30 points highlighted by a career best 13-of-15 performance at the free throw line while shooting 7-of-18 from the field. 
Garrett Hien contributed a career high 18 points and matched his career best eight rebounds. 
Jalen Slawson had a team high nine rebounds and 
Marcus Foster tied his career best of seven. 
Conley Garrison also dished out five assists.
Alex Hunter became the 48
th player in school history to reach 1,000 career points on Friday after contributing 17 on five 3-pointers, eight rebounds and five assists.
Furman concluded the game shooting 39.3 percent (24-of-61) from the field and 42.9 percent (12-of-28) from 3-point range. The Paladins also made 20 of their 26 free throw attempts.
Belmont, ranked No. 2 in the preseason College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, is 1-1 on the season following an 81-43 win over Evansville on Saturday. The Bruins are under the direction of third-year head coach Casey Alexander.
Furman is facing Belmont for the third time in program history with the all-time series tied at 1-1. The teams are meeting for the first time since the 2000-01 season.
The Paladins return to Timmons Arena this weekend, November 19-21, to host Radford and Navy.
