GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman conquered UNC Greensboro, 7-0, Sunday at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C., in the Southern Conference opener for both teams.

The Paladins swept the doubles matches to take the opening point.  Seniors Jake Bhangdia and Henrik Atlevi defeated Ollie Palmer and Nico Grewe, 6-3, at flight one, and senior Ivan Mitric and junior James Roelofse, who were down 5-2, came from behind for a 7-6(5) victory versus Roger Rogowski and Cooper Wyett at number two.  At flight three, senior Drew Singerman and freshman Emil Westling beat Christopher Johns and Alexander Zuckerman, 6-3. 

Furman won all six singles matches for the victory.  Mitric topped Palmer, 6-3, 6-0, at flight two, and Bhangdia outlasted Hugh Knapp, 6-0, 6-7(8), 1-0(10-5) at number two.  Atlevi came from behind to defeat Grewe, 1-6, 6-4, 6-2, at flight three, and Singerman downed Rogowski, 6-4, 6-4, at number four.  Westling scored a 62-, 7-5 win versus Zuckerman at flight five, and freshman Ben Cahill entered the lineup at flight six, where he held off Wyett, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0(6). 

UNCG falls to 0-2 overall and 1-0 SoCon with the loss. 

Furman (3-3, 1-0 SoCon) is idle for the week before entertaining Kennesaw State next Sunday at noon at the Mickel Tennis Center.
