MACON, GA. -- Sophomore Anna Morgan (+7) tied for fifth to lead 34th-ranked Furman to a share of third place, the team's highest finish of the season, Tuesday in the final day of the Brickyard Collegiate at the par 72, 6,218 yard Brickyard Golf Club in Macon, Ga.
Morgan, a native of Spartanburg, S.C., birdied No. 9 and No. 17 to finish with a 75 on Tuesday, seventh strokes back of individual champions Justine Fournand (E) of Florida Atlantic and Lauren Lightfritz (E) of Mercer, who each finished with a three-round total of 216.
Senior Madison Moosa (+14) tied for 20th after carding a final-round 78 with a birdie on No. 18, and freshman Sophia Burnett (+15), who played as an individual, tied for 22nd with a 74 on Tuesday. Burnett tallied birdies on No. 10 and No. 16 in the last round of play.Â
Senior Carly Burkhardt (+17) recorded a 78 with a birdie on No. 6 to tie for 31st, and sophomore Caroline Wrigley (+23) added a 78 with birdies on No. 1 and No. 16, tying for 49th. Junior Sarah-Eve Rhéaume (+28) tied for 60th with an 86 in the final round.
No. 26 UCF (+28) won the tournament by 18 strokes over host Mercer (+46). The Paladins (+52) tied for third with Kennesaw State (+52), while Memphis (+53) completed the top five. No. 41 North Florida (+56) took sixth place.
Furman will compete at the Southern Conference Championship April 19-20, in Kiawah Island, S.C.
