GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Paladin cross country teams swept the team titles at the Furman Invitational 5K Saturday morning in Greenville, S.C.

The Furman women took the top eight spots, winning the meet with 15 points.  Eastern Kentucky was second with 50 points, while Southern Wesleyan completed the top three at 78 points.  

Sophomore Bethany Graham won the individual title with a time of 16:41.88, while freshman Kaylie Armitage took second at 16:50.43.  Sophomore Emily Little was third at 16:52.25, and sophomore Megan Marvin turned in a time of 17:03.96 for fourth place.  Junior Nicole Matysik rounded out the Paladin scorers in fifth place with a time of 17:07.65, and freshman Meghan Ford turned in a time of 17:11.11 to place sixth.  

In seventh place, sophomore Jonna Strange posted a time of 17:14.19, followed by freshman Sierra Bower in eighth place at 17:32.55.  Sophomore Beth Donnelly finished 11th with a time of 18:06.14, and sophomore Kylie Wittman placed 14th at 18:33.32

The Paladin men claimed the top five individual slots, also winning the title with 15 points.  Eastern Kentucky finished as runner up with 44 points, followed by Bob Jones in third place with 108 points.

Senior Cameron Ponder posted a time of 13:56.79 to win the individual title, while sophomore Dylan Schubert placed second at 14:02.86.  Sophomore Carson Williams turned in a time of 14:08.22 for third place, and senior Aaron Wier was fourth at 14:08.23.  Junior Ares Reading completed the Paladin scorers in fifth place with a time of 14:17.50.  

Senior Daniel Bernal placed eighth at 14:21.65, and senior Noah Dolhare finished 11th with a time of 14:26.21.  Freshman Foster Wilfong crossed the line in 14:34.06 for 13th place.  Freshman Gabriel Montague posted a time of 14:35.24 for 14th place, followed by junior David Ahlmeyer in 15th at 14:38.80.  Sophomore Andrew Hammel placed 16th at 14:42.18, and junior Mac Roberts was 19th with a time of 15:06.51. 

Sophomore Spencer Tate led a contingency of Paladin runners in 21st through 27th place.  Tate was 21st at 15:11.32, followed by junior Nick Epstein in 22nd at 15:14.23.  Rookie Nick Goldstein placed 23rd at 15:14.98, while junior Benjamin Seeber finished 24th with a time of 15:24.15.  Junior Adam Beucler recorded a time of 15:38.00 to take 25th place, and junior Josh Powers was 26th with a time of 15:34.35.  Freshman Ethan Vargas placed 27th at 15:39.31, and rookie Casey Burr turned in a time of 15:50.13 for 31st place.  Junior Justin Hager placed 35th with a time of 16:13.68.

Furman will compete at the Florida State Cross Country Open in Tallahassee, Fla., on September 17.
