GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's tennis team concluded play Sunday at the 34th annual Debbie Southern Fall Classic, which was held this weekend at the Mickel Tennis Center on the campus of Furman University in Greenville, S.C.
Senior Julia Adams beat Duke's Ellie Coleman, 7-5, 6-4, in the flight one singles consolation finals. Sophomore Ellie Schulson pushed Chloe Cirotte of Mississippi State to three sets at flight six, falling 5-7, 6-1, 6-2, while sophomore Ilayda Baykan also reached three sets versus Mia Ahmed, dropping a 7-5, 2-6, 6-3 decision at flight 11.
"This has been a great tournament for our team," said Paladin head coach Adam Herendeen. "We ran into some really tough players today and we learned a lot about what we need to improve, but we showed just how high the ceiling is for this team."
