Greenville, S.C. – The Furman softball team continues its 2022 season this weekend when it hosts the four-team Furman Classic from Pepsi Stadium.
The Paladins, who will play five games throughout the weekend, are joined in the tournament by South Dakota, Saint Francis, and Georgetown. Friday Furman is set to play South Dakota and Saint Francis at 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., respectively. The Paladins will then face Saint Francis (4:30 p.m.) and Georgetown (7:00 p.m.) on Saturday and Georgetown (11:30 a.m.) on Sunday.

Admission is free throughout the weekend.
This weekend marks the second of three consecutive tournaments being hosted at Pepsi Stadium. Next weekend the Paladins will host the GVL Showdown.
Furman kicked off the season last weekend finishing with a 2-2 record with wins against North Dakota and Maryland Eastern Shore. Ashlee Lykins, Riley Ludlam, and Natalie Morgan each had four hits on the weekend while Sierra Tufts recorded seven strikeouts. The Paladins rallied from a ten-run deficit on Friday night to beat Maryland Eastern Shore, 13-10.
South Dakota finished last season with a 13-38 overall record while Saint Francis went 40-10 and appeared in the NCAA Austin Regional. Georgetown compiled an 8-15 record in 2020 but did not play last season. Georgetown (1-4), Saint Francis (3-2), and South Dakota (4-1) have each played five games this season.
The Paladins finish their season-opening nine-game homestand next weekend, February 25-27, hosting three teams as part of the GVL Showdown.
