Greenville, S.C. – The start of Furman's Southern Conference softball series versus Wofford, originally set for Saturday and Sunday, has been moved up due to the threat of inclement weather this weekend, it was announced on Thursday morning.
The series is now set to begin with a 5 p.m. doubleheader on Friday evening and conclude with a single game on Saturday at 11 a.m. Prior to Saturday's series finale, Furman will honor
Sylvia Burroughs and
Ansley Chiang in on-field Senior Day ceremonies at Pepsi Stadium. Admission is free to all three games.
Furman enters Friday's twinbill at 11-35 overall and 3-12 in league play after being swept in a three-game home series against Samford last weekend. The Bulldogs claimed 8-1 and 14-1 victories on Saturday before rolling to a 17-1 decision in the series finale on Sunday.
Wofford comes into the weekend at 29-15 overall and 6-9 in the SoCon. The Terriers dropped two-of-three games at East Tennessee State last weekend but rebounded with an 11-7 victory over Winthrop in non-conference play on Wednesday.
The all-time series between the Paladins and Terriers is knotted at 3-3. Furman took two-of-three games in the inaugural meeting in 2024 before Wofford captured two-of-three in the rematch last season in Spartanburg, S.C. Wofford downed the Paladins 6-5 and 5-3 in the first two games of last year's series before Furman earned a 4-3 triumph in the series finale.
