GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's Sara Snyder has been named the Southern Conference women's tennis player of the week for all matches played from Feb. 7-13, the conference announced on Tuesday. The award is selected by the league office.
Snyder won at No. 4 singles and No. 1 doubles in Furman's 5-2 setback at Wake Forest on Saturday.
In doubles action, Snyder, the 2022 SoCon Freshman of the Year, paired with classmate Jess Dawson at the top flight to down the 10th-ranked doubles team in the country, Anna Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth, 7-5. In singles play, Snyder earned a 6-1, 3-6, 7-5 win over the Demon Deacons' Nevena Carton.
This is the first career weekly honor for the San Juan, Puerto Rico, native.
Furman (1-6, 1-0 SoCon) hosts Florida Atlantic on Friday at 3 p.m. and Yale on Sunday at 10 a.m.
Also nominated: Laylo Bakhodirova (ETSU), Caroline Gibbens (Chattanooga) and Lily Woods (Wofford).
