Furman Will Travel To NCAA Regional In Salem, S.C.

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's golf team will take part in the NCAA Salem Regional, which is being hosted by Clemson at The Cliffs at Keowee Falls in Salem, S.C., May 15-17, as announced Wednesday by the NCAA Division I Golf Committee.

The Paladins, who are the No. 10 seed in Salem, are part of an 14-team regional field that will battle for a top-five finish and a berth in the 30-team NCAA Championship, which will be held May 26-31 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.  The Salem Regional field includes four of the top 25 teams in the country led by North Carolina, which ranks second in the latest GolfStat rankings.  No. 11 Georgia Tech, 14th-ranked Texas A&M, and No. 23 San Diego State will also compete in Salem.

"The Salem region is very strong, but Cliffs Keowee Falls is a golf course we enjoy playing and the region we were hoping for," said Furman head coach Matt Davidson, who was honored as the 2023 SoCon Coach of the Year on Tuesday.  "The next couple of weeks will be important to prepare the best we can, and we'll be ready for the opportunity!"

Furman, which received a regional at-large bid for the first time since 2002, will make its fifth NCAA Regional appearance.  The Paladins last competed at a regional in 2010, when Furman finished 11th at the Southeast Regional in Alpharetta, Ga.

The Paladin lineup for the regional will include sophomore Will Morlan, senior Sam Lape, senior Ross Funderburke, freshman Harris Barth, and senior Walker Crosby.  Freshman Zach Frazer will travel as an alternate.
