Wednesday Trip To Western Carolina Caps Furman's Regular Season Road Slate

SoCon Clash Set For 7 P.M. Tip On ESPNU

Greenville, S.C. – Furman concludes its Southern Conference men's basketball regular season road schedule on Wednesday night when the Paladins face Western Carolina in Cullowhee, N.C.

Wednesday's game at the Ramsey Center is set to tip-off at 7 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPNU. Fans can listen to the action on The Fan Upstate at 97.7 FM and 1330 AM in Greenville, on 97.1 FM and 1490 AM in Spartanburg, or via the Audacy app. Links for the video stream, audio feed, and live statistics are available at FurmanPaladins.com.

With two games to go in the regular season, Furman (16-13, 10-6) holds sole possession of fourth place in the league standings. The Paladins trail Chattanooga and UNC Greensboro by one game while maintaining a one-game edge on the Catamounts.

Furman claim its fourth victory in the last five outings on Saturday with an 82-67 triumph over Wofford inside a sold-out Timmons Arena. JP Pegues and Marcus Foster scored 20 points apiece to guide the Paladins to victory. Western Carolina (20-9, 9-7 SoCon) has won two of its last three games, including an 84-51 verdict at VMI on Saturday. The Catamounts, who count wins over Notre Dame, McNeese State, and UNC Asheville this season, are 11-3 at home in 2023-24.

The midweek road trip marks the 86th all-time meeting between the Paladins and Catamounts with Furman holding a 55-30 series lead. The Paladins have won three straight versus the Catamounts and 16 of the last 17 meetings. In the first clash of the season between the purple clad foes, JP Pegues drained a three from the top of the key with 0.8 seconds remaining to lift Furman to a 65-62 victory on January 20 at Timmons Arena. Pegues led Furman with 17 points, Marcus Foster posted 14 points and nine rebounds, and Alex Williams secured a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Western Carolina's lone victory in the last 17 meetings, a 79-67 decision last season in Cullowhee, snapped a six-game Paladin winning streak at the Ramsey Center.

Furman closes out the regular season at 2 p.m. on Saturday when it hosts Mercer at Timmons Arena. The Paladins, who have already secured a first round bye in the 2024 SoCon Men's Basketball Championship, will begin postseason play with quarterfinal round action at Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville, N.C., on Saturday, March 9.
