GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Paladin women's and men's cross country teams captured the team titles at the Furman Invitational Saturday morning in Greenville, S.C.

The Furman women ran as a pack and finished 2-3-4-5-6 to win the meet with 20 points.  SEC foe South Carolina placed second with 51 points, while Charleston Southern finished third with 78 points.   

Senior Kaylie Armitage led the Paladins with a second-place finish and a time of 20:29.9 on the 6K course.  Junior Jenna Mulhern placed third at 20:37.1, followed by junior Carly Wilkes in fourth at 20:40.4.  Senior Sierra Bower turned in a time of 21:04.8 for fifth place, while senior Nicole Matysik finished sixth with a time of 21:08.6 to complete the Furman scorers.

Junior Emma Jones crossed the line in 21:11.8 for eighth place, while senior Lily Feingold was ninth at 21:14.2, and senior Bethany Graham took 11th place in 21:21.6.  Junior Camryn Wennersten finished 12th at 21:46.5, followed by senior Megan Marvin in 13th with a time of 21:54.6.  Senior Madelynne Cadeau posted a time of 21:57.3 for 15th place, and junior Clair Garrett finished 43rd at 23:40.3.

On the men's side, senior Carson Williams took the individual title with a time of 17:52.2 course, leading Furman to the team victory.  The Paladins scored 19 points in the 6K race.  Charleston Southern finished second with 57 points, while UNC Asheville took third with 93 points. 

Graduate student Evan Guzman placed third for the Paladins with a time of 17:54.7, followed by sophomore Chris Knight in fourth place at 17:58.6.  Junior Luke Taylor took seventh at 18:05.1, while graduate student Ethan Domitrovich finished out the Furman scoring in tenth place with a time of 18:16.8.

Senior Nick Goldstein recorded a time of 18:20.9 to take 12th, and senior Foster Wilfong was 19th at 18:32.0, followed by sophomore Owen Shifflett in 20th with a time of 18:32.2.  Junior Colton Kempney crossed the line in 18:54.2 for 29th place, and senior Casey Burr finished 36th with a time of 19:30.3.  

The Paladins will compete at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational in Madison, Wis., on Sept. 27.
