GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's tennis team continues its homestand this week with matches versus North Florida and Appalachian State. The Paladins will entertain North Florida Friday at 3 p.m. and will square off against Appalachian State Sunday at 11 a.m. Both matches will be held at the Mickel Tennis Center on Furman's campus in Greenville, S.C.
The Paladins enter the match at 1-0 after defeating No. 22 Alabama, 4-3, on Monday. Furman won the doubles point with victories at flights one and two, and the Paladins scored in singles at flights two, three, and five. Senior Sara Snyder was honored as the SoCon Player of the Week after recording wins at flight two singles and flight one doubles.
North Florida comes to Greenville with an 0-1 record after dropping a 5-2 match to No. 19 Florida on Sunday. The Ospreys, who are coached by former Furman associate head coach Catherine Dunagan, defeated the Paladins, 4-2, last season in Jacksonville. Furman leads the all-time series, 3-1.

Appalachian State defeated VCU (5-2) and Temple (4-1) last week to move to 2-0 on the season. Furman holds a 44-2 series advantage after beating the Mountaineers, 7-0, in Greenville when the teams last met in 2014, the last season that Appalachian State was a member of the Southern Conference.

Furman concluded the 2024 season with a 6-1 Southern Conference record and advanced to the finals of the league championships for the seventh-consecutive time. Sara Snyder was selected to the All-SoCon first team for singles, while Ellie Schulson and Macy Hitchcock were named to the first team for doubles. Grace Thomas was honored with an All-SoCon second team citation at flight four singles, and Marissa Pennings was voted to the second team at flight six singles. In doubles, Furman's Jess Dawson, Snyder, and Thomas earned second-team honors.
