GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman cruised past Appalachian State, 5-2, Sunday at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C.

The Paladins won the top two doubles matches to take the first point.  Seniors Ellie Schulson and Sara Snyder handed Taya Powell and Isabela Romanichen a 6-2 loss at number one, and senior Jess Dawson and sophomore Macy Hitchcock defeated Savannah Dada-Mascoll and Olwyn Ryan-Bovey, 6-2, at flight two.  The Mountaineers picked up the victory at flight three, where Ruby Broadbent and Alexi Cleveland downed seniors Grace Thomas and Alexa Griffith, 6-3.

In singles, Furman claimed straight-set wins at flights three through six for the victory.  Senior Marissa Pennings entered the lineup at flight three, where she beat Powell, 6-1, 6-4, and Schulson blew past Ryan-Bovey, 6-1, 6-2.  At flight five, Hitchcock posted a 6-0, 6-1 advantage over Broadbent, an at number six, Thomas defeated Cleveland, 6-1, 6-1.

Appalachian State scored at flights one and two singles, as Dada-Mascoll topped Dawson, 6-1, 6-0, in the top-seeded match up, and Romanichen came from behind for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 win over Snyder at number two. 

The Paladins (3-0) will travel to UNC Asheville on Saturday.  First serve is set for 3 p.m.
