Furman To Compete At Little Rock

GREENVILLE, S.C. --  The Furman men's golf team will compete at the Everett Buick GMC Classic Monday and Tuesday at the par 72, 7,115 yard Chenal Country Club in Little Rock, Ark.

"This is an event we haven't played in before, but we have heard great things about Chenal Country Club," said Furman head coach Matt Davidson, the reigning SoCon Coach of the Year, who is in his eighth year leading the Paladin program.  "The practice round will be really important to learn the lines and clubs off tees and some of the hole locations you can and can't be aggressive, too.  There's always a little more work that goes into a practice round on a new course, but we can't wait to get to Little Rock and see it.  The field is deep and solid, but we are playing better each week and looking forward to continuing to build on that momentum."

The Paladins will be joined in the 16-team field by host Little Rock, Abilene Christian, Austin Peay, Central Arkansas, Coastal Carolina, James Madison, Lamar, Lipscomb, Louisiana, North Texas, Middle Tennessee, Southern Mississippi, Troy, UAB, and ULM.

Furman's lineup for the tournament includes senior Harris Barth, senior Clark Akers, senior Zach Frazer, sophomore Ludvig Josefsson, and freshman Cameron Reed.

The 54-hole tournament begins with a 9:15 a.m. ET shotgun start each day.  The Paladins will tee off on holes No. 5 through No. 8 in Monday's two rounds and will play in a group with Lipscomb, Southern Mississippi, and Louisiana.  Admission to the tournament is free and fans are welcome.  Live tournament scoring will be available via Scoreboard by clippd.

Furman opened the 2024-25 season at the Gopher Invitational, where Akers and Frazer each shot 4-over to tie for 20th.  The Paladins surged into eighth place as a team after recording a final-round 284.  Barth then won the individual title at the Bearcat Invitational, marking the first individual victory of his career, with scores of 67-69-68=204, and led the Paladins with a sixth-place finish at SMU's Trinity Forest Invitational.  Furman placed seventh at the SMU event after shooting 7-under par.

Last season, Furman received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tallahassee Regional, where Barth tied for ninth to pace the Paladins.  Will Morlan, Akers, and Barth were named to the All-SoCon team, while Josefsson claimed a spot on the SoCon All-Freshman team.
