GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman freshman midfielder
Ayla Moffitt has been named to Team Peru for the 2026 World Lacrosse Women's Championship, which will be held July 7-19 in Wroclaw, Poland.
A native of Winter Park, Fla., Moffitt played for Peru at the 2025 Pan American Games in Auburndale, Fla.
"It is such an amazing opportunity to be able to play on a world stage and an even greater one to represent my heritage while doing it," Moffitt said. "I love playing, and getting to spread love for the sport beyond the college level is a privilege that feels very rewarding. I look forward to this summer and all the amazing experiences I know it will bring!"
Moffitt enrolled at Furman after a prep career playing for Cris Robinson at Lake Highland Preparatory School. A team captain, she won two district championships, a region title, and state championship, and played for a state championship during her junior season. Moffitt was named team MVP as a sophomore.
"The experience Ayla has gained on the international stage before coming to college has grown her game," said Paladin head coach
Gail Wallach. "Training with and competing against such experienced players has better prepared her for this level. We are so excited for her to represent her heritage and Furman and compete on the biggest stage in women's lacrosse."
2026 is the inaugural year for the World Lacrosse Women's Championship and will be held at Pola Marsowe.
