DURHAM, N.C. -- Freshman Annie Miller won the 3,000m Steeplechase to lead the Furman track and field teams Friday at the Duke Invitational at Morris Williams Stadium in Durham, N.C. The Paladins recorded six top-15 finishes to open the meet.
Miller, a native of Matthews, N.C., posted a personal-best time of 10:13.12, which currently ranks seventh on the NCAA East Preliminaries qualifying list. Sophomore Jais Ward finished fifth in the Steeplechase with a time of 10:25.87.
Senior Camryn Wennersten placed fifth with a PR of 4:14.56 in the 1,500m, which ranks among the top 20 times in the East, and freshman Elly Velasquez finished 14th at 16:46.23 in the 5,000m to pace the Paladins in other women's distance events.
On the men's side, sophomore Rives Boltwood turned in a personal-best time of 14:14.94 to finish 14th in the 5,000m, and junior Brayden Seymour was 15th with a PR of 3:41.69 to lead Furman in the 1,500m. Seymour's time is among the top 20 times in the East Region this season.
The meet concludes on Saturday with the Paladins competing in the women's 800 and the men's 200m, 400m, 800m, and 4x100m relay.
