Greenville, S.C. – Furman softball travels to Greensboro, N.C., this weekend to face the first-place UNC Greensboro Spartans in a three-game Southern Conference series on Friday and Saturday at UNCG Softball Stadium.
 
The weekend series begins with a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Friday and concludes with a single game on Sunday at 1 p.m. There will be no live stream of this weekend's games, but live statistics will be available through StatBroadcast at FurmanPaladins.com.
 
Furman, 5-28 overall and 0-6 in league play, is in action for the first time since an 8-6 loss in its series finale versus East Tennessee State last Sunday at Pepsi Stadium. The Buccaneers swept the three-game series from the Paladins, who are still in search of their first SoCon victory.
 
First baseman Sylvia Burroughs continues to pace the Paladins with a .341 batting average, four home runs, and 18 RBI. Sophomore AB Cipalla, who earned All-NEC honors a year ago at Saint Francis (PA), hit hit .326 with a team-leading eight doubles while freshman Kristyn Embler has batted .321 with 10 extra base hits and 14 RBI.
 
The Spartans, preseason favorites in the SoCon, are 25-13 overall and 6-0 in league play after sweeping a three-game series from Western Carolina last weekend and claiming a 4-2 midweek triumph at Winthrop. UNCG has swept the regular season series from Furman in each of the last two seasons after the Paladins won both meetings in 2023.
