GREENVILLE, S.C. --  The Furman men's golf team will open the 2026-27 season Monday at the Bearcat Invitational at the par 71, 7,279 yard Coldstream Country Club in Cincinnati, Ohio.

"There is always a lot of excitement around the first event of the year, and that is definitely the case this season," said Furman head coach Matt Davidson, who is in his ninth year leading the Paladin program.  "We have some new faces and also some solid returners, and everyone is in good form coming off productive summer play.  Coldstream Country Club is such an old school, great test.  It is one of our favorite courses of the entire year and the field is as deep top to bottom as any we will face this fall.  It will be a really good opportunity to get off to a positive start to the season."

The 54-hole tournament begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Monday.  Furman will play in a group with Xavier, Minnesota, and Sam Houston in Monday's two rounds.  The final round is slated for 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Furman will be joined in the 17-team field by host Cincinnati, Arkansas Little Rock, Augusta, Central Florida, Chattanooga, Iowa State, Kentucky, Liberty, Louisville, Maryland, Memphis, Minnesota, Nebraska, Sam Houston, TCU, and Xavier.  Individuals from Ohio State will also compete.

The Paladin lineup for the Bearcat Invitational includes freshman Tucker Gutierrez, sophomore David Oliver, sophomore Cameron Reed, junior Turner Chiles, and graduate student Ben Loomis.  

Admission to the tournament free and fans are welcome.  Live tournament scoring will be available via Scoreboard by clippd.

Furman placed second at the 2026 SoCon Championship, marking the Paladins' highest finish under Davidson and the highest finish since the Paladins won the league title in 2010.
