Ranson Resigns As Pitching Coach At Furman

Box Score

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman head baseball coach Ron Smith announced today that pitching coach Mike Ranson has resigned, effective immediately.

"I sincerely appreciate the work Mike put in on behalf of Furman University, our baseball program, and our players over the last two years and certainly wish him the very best in the future," said Smith in making the announcement.

"I have enjoyed working with the players during my two seasons at Furman," said Ranson.  "I regret not having the opportunity to coach the classes of student athletes I brought in."

Ranson joined the Furman coaching staff in 2012 after serving two seasons as pitching coach/recruiting coordinator at the University of Delaware.

Landon Powell, who had served as Furman's volunteer assistant coach this year, has assumed the role of interim pitching coach, according to Smith.

Furman (18-28, 7-13 SoCon) plays host to East Tennessee State on Wednesday in a 5:00 p.m. game at Latham Stadium.
