GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman's baseball team swings back into action tonight when it makes the short drive to Clemson to face the Tigers in a 6:30 p.m. clash at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

The contest will be video live streamed for free by Clemson.  Furman's audio live stream featuring the "Voice of the Paladins" Dan Scott, along with StatBroadcast live stats, will be available via links at FurmanPaladins.com.  Fans can also follow the action through twitter updates @FurmanBaseball

Clemson is Furman's oldest documented baseball rival, having first met on the diamond in 1896.  The Tigers own an 11-game series winning over the Paladins, who last beat the Tigers, 4-2, at Clemson during the 2009 season.

The Paladins (12-14) halted a five-game losing skid and avoided a SoCon series sweep by beating Mercer, 8-4, at Latham Stadium, on Sunday, handing the Bears their first league loss since joining the SoCon this year.

Tonight's game at Clemson is Furman's lone mid-week encounter ahead of a three-game home league series versus VMI, which gets underway Friday at 6:00 p.m.  The Paladins will play the Keydets in a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 1:00 and have Easter Day off.

The Paladins are expected to throw sophomore right-hander Matthew Quarles (2-1, 6.28 ERA) against Clemson.  It will mark his first start of the season and ninth appearance this year for the Greenwood, S.C./Emerald H.S. product.  Quarles' picked up wins in relief against Michigan State on Mar. 14 at Fluor Field and at Samford on Mar. 20.  He made two relief appearances versus Clemson in 2014.

Furman is paced at the plate by freshman designated hitter/first baseman Blake Chisolm (.384, 0 HR, 17 RBI), junior second baseman Jordan Simpson (.380, 7 HR, 22 RBI), and junior outfielder Griffin Davis (.366, 1 HR, 12 RBI).
