STOCKTON, CALIF. -- Furman powered past Pacific, 6-1, Monday at the Eve Zimmerman Tennis Center in Stockton, Calif., to open the Paladins' spring break trip.

The Paladins swept the doubles contests to open the  match.  Senior Jake Munns and junior Ivan Mitric held off Akram El Sallaly and Tadiwa Chinamo, 7-5, at flight one, and senior Jake Bhangdia and sophomore James Roelofse defeated Philip Hjorth and Kobayashi, 6-2, at number two.  In the number three match up, juniors Henrik Atlevi and Drew Singerman topped John Noroz Garner and Nathan Hampton, 6-4.

Furman won five of six singles matches, as Munns blew past Hjorth, 6-2, 6-1, at number one, and Mitric came from behind for a 4-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-6) victory over Hampton at flight three.  In the number four contest, Atlevi held off Coby McCaig, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-8), and at flight five, Singerman topped Kobayashi, 6-2, 6-0.  Roelofse blanked Manroop Saini, 6-0, 6-0 at number six.

Pacific (1-13) scored at flight two, where El Sallaly defeated Bhangdia, 7-5, 6-2.

Furman (10-4, 2-0 SoCon) will play at St. Mary's Wednesday at 2 p.m. ET in a double header with the Paladin women's team.
