GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman men's tennis team will travel to Georgia State Saturday for a 2 p.m. contest at the Peachtree City Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Ga., then return home to entertain Kennesaw State Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C. Furman enters the weekend at 3-3 after defeating UNC Greensboro, 7-0, Sunday in the league opener for both teams. The Paladins recorded early season wins over Davidson and Gardner-Webb in January.
Georgia Southern is 1-3 after defeating Mercer, 7-0, then losing to Georgia Tech, 7-0, earlier in February. The Panthers will entertain Kennesaw State Friday before facing the Paladins on Saturday. The teams last met in 2017, when Georgia State recorded a 4-3 victory over Furman in Greenville to take a 3-1 lead in the series.
Over the years, Furman has been very successful on its home court. Over the past 19 seasons the Paladins have lost only 33 matches at home, posting an impressive record of 146-33 since 2002.
Kennesaw State stands at 1-4 after defeating Jacksonville State, 4-2, earlier in the month. Most recently, the Owls lost to UNC Wilmington, 7-0, and Coastal Carolina, 4-3. Kennesaw State will play at Georgia State Friday and at Elon on Saturday before traveling to Greenville on Sunday. Sunday's contest marks the first meeting between the Paladins and the Owls.
