RALEIGH, N.C. -- Running in her first collegiate event in over a year, senior Gabbi Jennings won the 3,000m Steeplechase with a time of 9:56.30 to lead the NCAA and the USA in the event and pace the Furman track and field teams Saturday in the final day of the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C.

A native of Slidell, La., Jennings, who has earned All-American citations in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track, is the Paladin record holder in the Steeplechase at 9:47.84 and finished ninth in the event at the 2019 NCAA Championships.  Sophomore Nicole Matysik also competed in the event at Raleigh, placing 27th at 11:08.30.

Senior Emma Kuntz turned in an 800m time of 2:07.63 for eight place, followed by freshman Megan Marvin in ninth at 2:07.79.  The Paladin duo ranks eighth and tenth, respectively, in the event on the NCAA East Preliminaries qualifying list.

On the men's side in Raleigh, freshman Carson Williams placed 15th with a time of 9:06.20 in the 3,000m Steeplechase, which ranks 14th in the East Region, and Nick Epstein was 50th in the 800m with a time of 1:54.81.

Select members of the Paladin team competed at the Weems Baskin Invitational, hosted by South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.

Sophomore David Ahlmeyer finished second in the 3,000m with a time of 8:49.90, followed by sophomore Benjamin Seeber in third place at 8:51.92.  Freshman Spencer Tate turned in a time of 8:56.70 for fifth place, and Josh Powers placed tenth with a time of 9:25.57.

Sophomore Mac Roberts placed fourth in the 1,500m with a time of 4:05.75, and sophomore Jonah Dill posted a time of 16.40 for 18th in the 110m high hurdles.  Freshman Adrian Gonzalez competed in the 200m, placing 57th at 23.81.

For the women, freshman Kylie Wittman finished third with a time of 10:15.21 in the 3,000m, and senior Emily Lane was fifth at 10:54.69.  Sophomore Caroline Nguyen turned in a time of 1:10.98 for 19th in the 400m intermediate hurdles, and sophomore Erin MacDevette was 41st with a time of 26.35 in the 200m.  Junior Sammy Trone posted a time of 27.62 for 56th in the event.

Furman will compete at the Tennessee Relays and the Joe Walker Invitational, April 9-10.
