GREENSBORO, Ga. – Sophomore Harris Barth (-2) is tied for ninth to lead the Furman (+1) men's golf team at the completion of Monday's second round of the 2024 Southern Conference Championship at par 72, 7,174 yard The Oconee Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Greensboro, Ga.

A native of Atlanta, Ga., Barth birdied his first two holes to finish the day with an even 72.  Senior Ross Funderburke (-1) paced Furman with a 1-under 71 with three birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 14 and No. 15, then added an eagle on the par-5 No. 17 to finish the day in a tie for 12th. 

Senior Walker Crosby (+1) birdied No. 1 and No. 12 to card and 75 and is tied for 15th entering Tuesday's final round, while junior Will Morlan (+4) is tied for 22nd after scoring a 74 on Monday.  Morlan posted a team-high five birdies after birdieing four-straight holes to end the second round.  Junior Trey Diehl (+5) shot a 74 with birdies on No. 7 and No. 17 to sit in 25th place after two rounds of play.  

No. 20 East Tennessee State (-22) continues to lead the tournament after Monday's round, but 43rd-ranked Chattanooga (-18), who paced the field with a 274 on Monday, cut the Bucs' lead to just four strokes.  No. 40 UNCG (-3) sits in third, only four strokes ahead of the Paladins (+1).  Wofford (+4) completes the top five.  

The Paladins lead the field with a 3.15 stroke average on the par 3s and are third with a 4.58 average on the par 5s.  Furman's 112 pars rank fourth, just two off the lead, while the Paladins' two eagles rank third. 

ETSU's Mats Ege (-12) holds the individual lead after tallying rounds of 67-65=132.

The tournament concludes Tuesday beginning at 8 a.m. with twosomes starting on No. 1 and No. 10.  The Paladins will begin on hole No. 1 at 8:05 a.m. and will play in a group with UNC Greensboro in the tournament's final round. 

The team winner of the SoCon Championship will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Regional, while the individual champion will also earn automatic regional qualification.
