Furman’s Morgan & Ryu Earn Bids to NCAA Auburn Regional

Greenville, S.C. – Furman women's golfers Anna Morgan and Audrey Ryu have earned bids to the NCAA Auburn Regional at the Auburn University Club in Auburn, Ala., May 6-8, as announced Wednesday by the NCAA Division I Golf Committee.

The Paladin players join a field of 12 teams and six additional individuals who will battle for a berth in the 24-team NCAA Championship, which will be held May 17-22 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.  The top five teams and one individual on non-qualifying teams will advance.

A senior from Spartanburg, S.C., Morgan, who is competing in her fourth-straight regional, is ranked 14th nationally in the latest Scoreboard by clippd rankings.  A three-time Southern Conference Player of the Year and two-time SoCon Female Athlete of the Year selection, she holds a 69.6 stroke average over 30 rounds this season, the lowest single-season stroke average in the history of the Paladin program.

Morgan, who competed in her third-straight Augusta National Women's Amateur earlier this month, won her second-consecutive SoCon individual championship last week in Hilton Head.  The victory marked the eighth individual win of her career and the fourth during the 2023-24 season, both Paladin records.  A four-time All-SoCon selection, Morgan has recorded seven top-5 finishes in 10 events this season, including victories at the Lady Paladin Invitational, the Landfall Tradition, the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, and the SoCon Championship.  She was selected to the Arnold Palmer Cup team for the second time earlier this week.

Ryu, who hails from Dublin, Ohio, is the third-ranked player in the SoCon and is second for the Paladins and third in the league with a 72.70 stroke average over 30 rounds, the lowest stroke average by a Furman freshman in the history of the program.  An All-SoCon selection and SoCon All-Freshman team honoree, she posted six top-20 finishes in 10 events, including a fourth-place finish of 5-under at the Clemson Invitational in March.  Ryu tied for ninth at the Evie Odom Invitational in October and shot 5-under at the Cougar Classic in September.
