Greenville, S.C. – Idle since last Monday night, the seventh-ranked Furman men's soccer team returns to action on Tuesday evening when it hosts the USC Upstate Spartans on Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium.
Kickoff between the Paladins and Spartans is set for 7 p.m. and live statistics for the match will be available via StatBroadcast at FurmanPaladins.com.
Both teams enter Tuesday's match in good form. The Paladins, 5-1-3 on the season, are coming off a 1-0 home victory over the Charlotte 49ers on September 22.
Trip Campbell netted his first career goal with less than nine minutes remaining to secure the points for Furman while
Ivan Horvat and
Max Miller combined for the shutout in goal. USC Upstate claimed its third consecutive win and improved to 4-4-1 on the season by blanking Winthrop 3-0 on Saturday night.
Sophomore
Wilfer Bustamante has led Furman with four goals and added three assists. Teammate
Diego Hernandez has contributed three goals and a team-best four assists. Horvat, a redshirt-freshman sports a 0.60 goals against average and has limited opponents to four goals in seven starts.
Tuesday's match marks the 19
th meeting between the schools with Furman holding an 11-4-3 series advantage. In last season's meeting at County University Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C.,
Landon Hill netted the game-winning goal as Furman downed the Spartans 3-1.
