GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's track and field team will compete Thursday and Friday at the prestigious Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa.
More than 100,000 fans will gather in Philadelphia to watch over 17,000 athletes compete in race categories for youth, high school, Special Olympics, collegiate, masters, and Olympic Development at the meet, which is one of the most historic track & field events in the world. The meet will be broadcast live on FloTrack to subscribers.
On Thursday, senior Camryn Wennersten, sophomore Nysa Males, and freshman Annie Miller will run the 1,500m at 6:10 p.m., while sophomore Jais Ward will compete in the 3,000m Steeplechase at 6:50 p.m. The night will conclude with freshman Tessa Walter lacing up for the 5,000m at 7:45 p.m.
The Paladin distance medley relay team of Miller, sophomore Claire Cook, Males, and Wennersten will compete Friday at 2:25 p.m.
Select members of both the women's and men's teams will run Friday and Saturday at the Charlotte Invitational at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Center in Charlotte, N.C.
The Paladins will compete in the men's 100m, 400m, and 3,000m Steeplechase, and Furman will run in both the men's and women's 1,500m and 5,000m. The team will also run in the women's 800m.

Three Furman women rank among the top 40 in the East region. Wennersten sits at 37th with a time of 4:14.56 in the 1,500m, while Miller is 19th (10:13.12) and Ward is 29th (10:25.87) in the Steeplechase. On the men's side, graduate student Albert Velikonja ranks 19th in the 5,000m with a time of 13:40.11, and junior Brayden Seymour sits at 49th with a time of 3:41.69 in the 1,500m.
