GREENVILLE, S.C. – Furman head baseball coach
Brett Harker has announced the addition of three players to the Paladins' program.
Middle infielder Joey Tepper, pitcher Matthew Marchal, and catcher/first baseman Blake Brady represent the three latest recruits for Furman, which announced the signing of 10 players in November.
Tepper, a rising junior, was a two-year starter at Spartanburg (S.C.) Methodist College, where he batted .313 with eight home runs and drove in 60 RBI while also leading the Pioneers in walks (64) and on-base percentage (.450) over the last two seasons. The Fort Mill, S.C., earned all-region honors in 2019 in helping SMC to post a 33-18 record and to a region runner-up finish.
Marchal starred at Greenville' St. Joseph's Catholic School, where he posted a 6-2 record and a 1.14 ERA with 67 strikeouts and just eight walks in 2019 while earning first team Greenville News All-Upper State honors. A two-time all-region selection who also hit .405 this past spring while seeing infield duty, he played on baseball and basketball teams that made state playoff appearances in each of the last three years at St. Joseph's.
Brady, a Simpsonville, S.C., native former two-time all-state performer at Greenville's J.L. Mann High School, spent the last two seasons at Georgia Highlands College, where he batted .271 with seven home runs and 54 RBI in 95 games.
Furman posted a 26-31 overall record and 15-13 Southern Conference worksheet in 2019 for a fifth place conference regular season finish.
