GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman cruised past Richmond, 6-1, Saturday at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C.

The Paladins swept the doubles matches to open the contest.  Seniors Jake Bhangdia and Jake Munns, who rank 21st nationally, beat Matt Fernandez and Josh Keitelman, 6-3, at flight one, and junior Ivan Mitric and senior Clarke Wilson topped Klein Evans and Campbell Erwin, 6-3, at number two.  In the number three match up, juniors Drew Singerman and Henrik Atlevi recorded a 6-2 advantage over John Walsh and Alex Wernink.

In singles action, Furman won five matches, four in straight sets.  Munns downed Evans, 6-1, 6-3, at flight two, and Bhangdia blew past Walsh, 6-1, 6-1, at number three.  Mitric held off Erwin, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1, at number four, and Atlevi scored a 6-2, 6-3 victory versus George Lovitt in the flight five match up.  Sophomore James Roelofse entered the lineup at number six, where he beat Wernink, 6-4, 6-1. 

The Spiders' lone point came at flight one singles, where Fernandez defeated Wilson, 6-3, 6-4.

Furman (6-4, 1-0 SoCon) will play host to UNC Asheville and The Citadel Sunday at the Mickel Tennis Center.  First serve versus UNC Asheville is set for 11 a.m. with the match versus The Citadel to follow at 3 p.m.
