GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman routed UNC Asheville and The Citadel, both 6-1, Sunday at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C.

In the opening match versus UNC Asheville, the Paladins picked up two quick doubles victories to take the first point.  Seniors Jake Munns and Jake Bhangdia, who rank 21st nationally, defeated Charlie Morkel and Oli Nolan, 6-3, at flight one, and senior Clarke Wilson and sophomore Ivan Mitric topped Edward Colclough and Sira Daosaengsawang, 6-2, at number two.  The flight three match was unfinished, with juniors Henrik Atlevi and Drew Singerman leading the Bulldogs' Finlay Ray McFadyen and Quinn Fender, 4-3. 

Furman won five singles matches, with four singles contests going to a third set or a tiebreaker.  Wilson topped Nolan, 6-1, 7-5, in the top seeded contest, and Munns held off Morkel, 6-1, 4-6, 7-5, at flight two.  In the flight three match up, Bhangdia downed Daosaengsawang, 6-1, 6-4, and Atlevi came from behind for a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 advantage over Leo Bierbaum at number five.  At flight six, Singerman slipped past Fender, 6-0, 3-6, 6-2.

UNC Asheville (3-5) scored at flight four, where Harry Thursfield eked past Mitric, 7-6, 4-6, 1-0(10-7).

Later in the day, Furman picked up its second SoCon win versus The Citadel.  The Paladins swept the doubles matches, with Munns and Bhangdia beat Gavin Stewart and Zvonko Bencedic, 6-2, at flight one, and Atlevi and Roelofse teaming up for a 6-2 victory over Will Graham and Phillip Quinn.  In the number three match up, senior Clarke Wilson and freshman Chad Nash topped Leo du Plooy and Willem van Zyl, 6-3. 

In singles action, Wilson outlasted Stewart, 7-5, 4-6, 6-2, at flight one, and Munns held off Graham, 6-1, 4-6, 2-6, at number two.  At flight three, Bhangdia slipped past Quinn, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, and at flight five, sophomore James Roelofse entered the lineup and posted a 6-2, 6-1 victory over van Zyl.  Nash secured a 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 win over Jack Pyritz at flight six.

The Citadel (2-10, 0-2 SoCon) won at flight four, where Zvonko Bencedic defeated Atlevi, 6-2, 6-4.

Furman (8-4, 2-0 SoCon) will entertain College of Charleston Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Mickel Tennis Center.
