SUNSET, S.C. -- Senior Anna Morgan (+2) is tied for 30th to the Furman women's golf team after Friday's opening round of the Clemson Invitational at the par 72, 6,386 yard The Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, S.C.
Morgan, who hails from Spartanburg, S.C., teed off on No. 10 and birdied No. 13 and No. 15 to turn at 1-over. She parred eight holes on the back to finish the day at 2-over.
Freshman Chloe Johnson (+6) birdied No. 1 and No. 14 to finish the day in a tie for 56th with a 78, while freshman Liza Lapeyre (+9) tied for 73rd after recording an 81 on Friday. Junior Caroline Crumrine (+11) carded an 83 with a birdie on No. 13 to tie for 78th, and freshman Faith Johnson (+12) shot an 84 to tie for 81st.Â
No. 28 Clemson (-7) leads the tournament after 18 holes, while No. 17 Ole Miss (-1) is six strokes back in second place. Third-ranked LSU (E) sits in third place. Furman (+28) is in 15th, ahead of Power 5 foe Oklahoma (+29). Â
The 54-hole tournament continues with an 11 a.m. shotgun start on Friday. Furman will tee off on No. 14 through No. 17 and will play in a group with Florida Atlantic and Columbia. Live tournament scoring will be available via http://www.golfstat.com.
